Parts List

  • Solar Panels - Approx 1,000 Watts worth of PV (depending on the location and networking equipment) 36V preferred to reduce cable size to charge controller.
  • MPPT Charge Controller - 60 Amp charge controller MPPT controller allows 36v panels to charge 12v battery bank, and makes sure of maximum efficiency.
  • 1200-1400 AH of battery bank @ 12v (in safe enclosure)
  • 3 x dual-conductor disconnect  (as specified in drawing)
  • 3 x DC breaker (as specified in drawing)
  • Mounting brackets
  • Wire
  • Ground rod

 

NOTES on WIRE Sizes

 
A: PV Panel to Controller Disconnect
max 16', 24vdc or above out of panel, assuming 10 amp max from each panel
12 gauge wire (individually wired to allow for no-downtime replacement of panels)
wire can be 12 gauge all the way to breaker (for +) and to controller (for -)
 
B: Controller Disconnect to Controller (+) / Neg bus bar (-)
max 2', 24vdc or above from PV Panel
10 gauge wire (due to short length)
 
C: Controller to buss bar (+) & Bus Bars to Battery Banks
max 3' total (to/from buss bar), 12vdc from Controller
10 gauge wire
 
D: Battery interconnect
if 12v batteries in parrallel, no interconnect (will use 10 gauge from each battery to disconnect)
otherwise pre-made high gauge such as AWG 2/0 or AWG 4/0
 
E: Buss bar to 30A & 12vdc loads
